Backcountry Pack Trips

Summer pack trips in Idaho are an experience not to be missed. To truly experience the Idaho backcountry you need to experience it on horseback. When you book a pack trip with us you will be riding in the Nez Perce National Forest, The Frank Church River Of No Return Wilderness and the Gospel Hump Wilderness on the trails that gold miners and early settlers used to cross the country.  This is a truly unique and wonderful experience we will be riding from the top of the mountains to the canyons of the Salmon River.

We offer day rides that return to the lodge each night, and overnight pack trips from 2 to 4 nights out. Our overnight pack trips can take you to remote fishing lakes teeming with trout or for a cool refreshing swim in the Salmon River and don’t forget you camera, you will be in some of the most beautiful country on the planet.    We can also customize a pack trip for your group. What ever trip you choose our expert guides are sure to make it an enjoyable an exciting trip.

Below are the trips we offer. All trips below are for 7 days 6 nights Arrival is on Sunday checkout is on Saturday.

Mountain Pack Trip: Arrive at the lodge  on Sunday and explore the gold mining area of Dixie. Monday is a day to go on a  hike, ATV riding or short trip to visit Red River Hot Springs. On Tuesday we head out on the trail spending 3 days and 2 nights in a mountaintop camp. First day is spent riding to our high mountain camp site. We will be passing through the Cook Ranch, a remote backcountry ranch. Spending that evening relaxing around a campfire or star gazing. The second day will be spent exploring the high country on horseback, if you fish you will also have a opportunity to fish for cutthroat trout in a high mountain lake. We will return to camp for a relaxing evening. On Thursday  we break camp and ride back to the lodge by evening. Friday is a day at the lodge for relaxing, ATV riding or a trip to the hot springs. Saturday is checkout.

Salmon River 3 day Pack Trip: Arrive at the lodge  on Sunday and explore the gold mining area of Dixie. Monday is a day to go on a  hike, ATV ride or short trip to visit Red River Hot Springs. On Tuesday we head out on the trail spending 3 days and 2 nights out. Tuesday night is spent in a high mountain camp. Wednesday is spent riding  off the mountain down to and along the Salmon River. Wednesday night is spent at a remote wilderness lodge on the Salmon River, where you can take a refreshing dip in the river. Thursday is a  ride back to the lodge. Friday is  a day spent exploring around the lodge, ATV riding or a soak at Red River Hot Springs. Saturday is check out.

Salmon River 4 day Pack Trip and Jet Boat Excursion: Arrive at the lodge  on Sunday and explore the gold mining area of Dixie. Monday is a day to go on a  hike, ATV riding or short trip to visit Red River Hot Springs. On Tuesday we head out on the trail spending 3 days and 2 nights out. Tuesday night is spent in a high mountain camp. Wednesday is spent riding off the mountain down to and along the Salmon River. Wednesday night is spent at a remote wilderness lodge on the Salmon River, where you can take a refreshing dip in the river. Thursday will be spent  jet boating  the thrilling whitewater rapids of the Salmon River. We will be stopping  at many points of interest along the river like a gold mine, Indian pictographs and historical homesteads. We will also be stopping at a natural hot springs overlooking the Salmon River Canyon for a soak.  Friday will be spent riding back to . Saturday is check out.
